Keep the title short and sweet, just on one line. In this intro, include book title, name and nationality/country of author (and translator if applicable), a brief hook or your reaction to the book, genre, setting, and why you picked it. Some of these elements can go in the next section too.

Very catchy subheading introducing the story

This is the short summary of the book with no spoilers!!

You can also discuss themes that the novel covers and maybe even connect those themes to real world events or other books, short stories, and poems. I think this is the preamble to the academic portion of the book review blog post.

Next subheading: what stood out about this book

An image to look like buildings in Russia. AI generated.
Theoretically, what buildings might look like in Russia. AI generated.

In this section, you should write about the characters, writing style, pacing, emotional impact, etc.

This is where you will want to hit upon the cultural and/or political significance of the novel.

And you can always use a quote (Wix has something fancy for that) from the book. Mentioning imagery that really captivated you is good for this section, too. This will be your academic portion of the book review.

Third subheading: Your personal take on the novel and impact on you

In this section, you can share your thoughts on what you learned from the book, especially in terms of the culture of the author's homeland, and also mention anything that the book caused you to question or reconsider.

You can also connect this book to others and definitely to global issues and similarities, past and present.

And the final heading, your conclusion!

This is where you recommend the book and to whom. Great for people who like books by such and such other, or for people interested in such and such topic or theme.

Conclude with a one-sentence verdict and take-away of the book.

Optional: a final header asking a question you'd like your readers to anwer (like have they read the book and what do they think - or see if they have book recommendations!) and don't forget to update SEO as a final step!

About the author

Hi! I'm Sara. I attend Bishop Diego High School in Santa Barbara, CA. I love to learn — particularly about the history, traditions, beliefs, and customs of countries all over the world. Eventually,  I  hope to immerse myself in global cultures through travel, truly experiencing all that they have to offer. For now, though,  I  pursue my interests by reading global news articles, exploring international culinary delights, and — my favorite — reading books written by authors from other countries. Writing provides an avenue for me to appreciate the similarities and celebrate the differences of all of the people and places of the world. I hope you will join me on my journey to explore it all!

P.S. - I do not engage with social media. I made the conscious decision before entering high school that, for me, social media is best reserved as a creative outlet after I graduate. As a result, promoting Prologue to the Plane, and sharing my journey, is a challenge. If you do engage with social media, and you feel so inclined, please feel free to share Prologue to the Plane on your preferred platforms. Thank you in advance for helping to share my journey!
